OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROMISE

MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO,
TIM RABAIOTTI

The 365 Dry team set out to create something to replace the single use plastic poncho so commonly bought and discarded a few hours later. 300 million tonnes of plastic are produced each year, and only 10-13% is ever reused. This is causing a devastating effect to our environment.

We created a quality replacement product that can be used time and time again. Then we went one step further and invested in a beautiful, innovative material made from recycling discarded plastic bottles.

Every one of our Rain Ponchos is made from 40 recycled plastic bottles. That’s 40 plastic bottles disrupted from their journey to the ocean and landfill and given purpose again.

The 365 Dry Team, are a passionate group of people from around the world. While we love having fun, we take our responsibilities seriously. We care about the environment as much as we care about fashion, and we want to do our bit to take care of people, our planet and for future generations.

We believe that sustainability doesn’t end at manufacturing and fabric choice but that style, feel and durability are where we truly make a difference. We are embedding a sustainable approach into every part of the 365 Dry business and we’re transparent in all that we do. We are proud of the progress so far, we continue to learn and continue to improve.

Yours,

Tim

ON A MISSON TO ERADICATE THE
SINGLE-USE PLASTIC PONCHO

365DRY have been leading the sustainable rain poncho business for over 6 years. When first established, there was NO other option available on the market. We have not stopped creating, innovating and perfecting.

Our company mission has always been to eradicate the single-use plastic poncho and our business has been built around this goal from the outset.

We innovated with recycled material to create something 100% waterproof- this had never been done before.

We have yet to find a competitor that can prove the source of their material derives from recycled plastic, or demonstrate their product stands up as 100% waterproof under testing.

We educate consumers on the importance of doing their bit and choosing sustainably, while providing a technically superior alternative that they are proud to keep and stands the test of time.

We focus specifically on re-purposing plastic bottle pollution, as research tells us this is where we need to make the biggest impact to the environment. Many other sustainable brands do not focus on where their recycled plastic comes from. All recycled plastic is good. We strive to be best.

The chosen supplier for the World’s largest sporting event (Rugby World Cup 2019) and Europe’s largest online retailer (ASOS).

To date, we have recycled over 2,000,000 plastic bottles destined for the ocean and landfill

PARTNERING WITH THE WORLD'S LEADING RECYCLED FIBRE MANUFACTURER

Repreve is our partner of choice, due to the superior quality of their material and their embedded tracebility- meaning us, and our customers, are assured that our product is making the difference to plastic pollution that we promise it does.

The REPREVE ®️ fabric is the only eco-performance fiber with U Trust®️ verification, which certifies recycled content claims through traceable FiberPrint®️ technology.

Their process embeds properties like wicking, adaptive warming and cooling, water repellency, and more at the fiber level. For reliable, durable outerwear.

Billions of plastic bottles go into landfills every year, but now there is something we can do about it. Repreve transform recycled bottles into an amazing quality fibre – they are the leading, most trusted, branded performance material in the World.

EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY

We digitally print our ponchos, which uses 95% less water than screen printing. Just another contribution towards the water waste issue, and dwindling natural supply.

We utilize technology wherever possible. Our designing and testing process uses sophisticated product modelling software, which helps us to reduce the waste of unnecessary sampling and shipping.

We achieve 95% completion of product design purely digitally, before creating final samples for quality testing.

We have found our methods not only significantly decrease waste, but also production timelines.

Launching our fully circular up-cycling model in 2020.

Old pieces have been returned and upcycled to produce shopping bags and a series of fully recyclable facemasks made from plastic bottles and bamboo were produced as our response to the COVID-19 effect of single use products.

THE DETAILS

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

365 Dry Rain Ponchos are produced using the latest innovation in high-quality, sustainable material. We choose to work with REPREVE ®️* as the only eco-performance fiber with U Trust®️ verification, which certifies recycled content claims through traceable FiberPrint®️ technology.

With full transparency, some small parts of manufacturing our garments are not fully sustainable. We are constantly seeking better options for our products needs, to function perfectly at keeping our consumers protected from the rain. As the global demand continues to grow for more sustainable methods we aim to have minimised this to within 10% of the total garment by 2023.

ETHICAL TRADE

365 Dry was born in Bali, Indonesia. We made the decision to support the local community by managing our operations on the Island and keeping manufacturing within Asia. We provide local jobs and invest locally whenever we can. We pay our workers a fair wage- a standard we expect of all our suppliers.

We continue to collaborate with our suppliers to make ongoing improvements to working environments. Our programme is constantly evolving, but it is centred on the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code, an internationally recognised set of labour standards (based on the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions). It helps us and all ETI members drive improvements in working conditions across the world.

SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING

It has always been important to us to work with people who understand us as a business and the values we stand by. Asia is not as advanced as other regions with their production materials and methods, but we made the decision to support them, educate and encourage sustainable ways of working.

They keenly learn the techniques necessary and the reasons why, which we believe has a greater impact than outsourcing to further parts of the World, which adds excessive flight pollution when transporting materials.

Sustainability is a core value, beyond the manufacturing of the Rain Poncho product and we have invested time researching the best packaging and labelling too. All our hangtags and packaging are made from 100% recycled paper and finished without plastic coatings to ensure they are sustainable and fully recyclable.

Our Rain Ponchos are packed in PP non woven bags which are made from 100% recycled plastics and can themselves be reused and then eventually fully recycled at the end of their lifespan.

Wherever possible we choose to digitally print our garments. This technique minimises water usage and waste caused by production vividly represents the artworks of each piece.

REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

We consider all areas of sustainability in our operations. We have drastically reduced the need of paper and recycle as much as possible- that’s not so easy in Bali, but we go to the efforts to make it happen and continue to educate others.

We do our best to reduce our environmental impact in all our operations. Including design and sampling where we have minimised the need to sample styles using technology to create collections virtually and in 3D, minimising fabric consumption, wastage , manufacturing, shipping, time and carbon footprint.

GIVING BACK

365 Dry have adopted a 1-1-1 philanthropy model. We give back 1% of our profit, 1% of our product and 1% of our employees time to causes that mean something to us.

1% of our annual profit is donated to our charity of choice.

At least 1% of our product is donated to good causes. In the past that has included children from non-affluent areas, people participating in fundraising events and those doing work for the environment where they are exposed to the elements.

We encourage our employees to use 1% of their paid working time to volunteer with charities or non for profits that mean something to them. Our employees have chosen to use this time cleaning beaches, educating the underprivileged and supporting fundraising activates.

We believe this is an important behavior for small businesses to adopt from concept so as the business grows so does the investment, impact and time.
